Randy Stevenson was asked by a few of his players this afternoon how close he was to 400 career wins.
"About three," Stevenson said. "Three or four."
That was a lie.
Stevenson knew he had 399 entering today's match against Bishop Canevin at Chippewa Golf Club, but he wanted to keep the pursuit of No. 400 to himself, fearful of placing added pressure on his players.
Stevenson got his milestone win this afternoon, as the Bearcats blew past the Crusaders, 202-224.
Chris Blackburn led the way with a 35. Jacob Crockett shot 39, T.J. Kurutz 40, and Tyler and Dustin Reedy helped out with a 42 and 46, respectively.
Stevenson's young team improved to 7-2 overall, 4-2 in Division II Section 4.
"It's nice to get No. 400," the coach said. "I wanted to stick around at least for this season and get it. We're starting with kind of a new team, and I'm real happy with how well they're playing."
