Scenario no one likes to see at Monessen

I wish high school sports involved only positive news, but unfortunately that's not reality. Sure you've seen by now about Monessen -- three football players placed in a juvenile detention center for having guns (one of them loaded) and drugs in the locker room.

Here's the Associated Press story on our site.

A few things to note:

>>Of the three players, Chavas and Justice Rawlins -- two of the Greyhounds' best and a pair of Division I recruits -- were not involved. Tweets since the incident confirm that.

>>Monessen plays at Serra Catholic tonight at 7:30 p.m. Even with the three players out, I don't think it will make much of a difference; the winless Eagles have been outscored 262-28.

>>Much credit should go to head coach Andy Pacak and the Monessen coaching staff for noticing and reporting what they saw to authorities.
