The area playoff picture

With win-and-get-in games last night from Canon-Mac, Beth-Center and West Greene (girls), we're now set with 10 of our 21 teams making the playoffs on the boys side, 12 of 21 for girls basketball.

Six (four boys, two girls) had losing section records. Four (two and two) have losing overall records. Three (California boys, McGuffey and Avella girls) enter the playoffs as section champions.

Here's a look at the sections where our teams made the playoffs and who's out.

Note: Monessen and Clairton play at 1:30 p.m. today. A Monessen win gives the Greyhounds the No. 3 seed, Clairton and Frazier tie for No. 4. If Clairton wins, the Bears get the No. 3 seed via tiebreaker, and Monessen falls to fourth, bumping Frazier out of the playoff picture.
