Near-hire for Canon-Mac football

Canon-McMillan's search for a head football coach nearly had an abrupt, strange ending today ... until a deal to bring in Leo Wisniewski fell through, according to one of my most reliable sources.

Wisniewski played college football at Penn State (102 tackles, 11 sacks from 1978-81) and in the NFL with the Baltimore Colts and the Chicago Bears.

Interesting, anyway, considering athletic director Guy Montecalvo's well-known Penn State ties.

Leo Wisniewski is the brother of Steve Wisniewski, who was a two-time All-American at Penn State and an eight-time Pro Bowler with the Oakland Raiders. Leo's son, Stefen, is currently the starting left guard for the Raiders.

I believe Wisniewski was an assistant with Central Catholic, though not this past season.
