Personally, I have my doubts. But nevertheless, there's a meeting at 3 p.m. today, open to the public, where the hiring of a new football coach is at least on the agenda.
I'll be heading down there and tweeting/blogging any updates. If not, well, we've seen this movie before.
Remember, this all started when a group of parents/boosters "gauged interest" in the job, Tim Sohyda resigned, and five months of waiting ensued.
Different peaks and valleys marked the search -- at one point nine candidates were to be interviewed, whittled to three, also heard the starting point set at 11. Then there were three supposed candidates, which were suspected to be Montour offensive coordinator Damon Rosol; former Moon head coach and Canon-Mac assistant Jon Miller; and former West Middlesex head coach Jason McElhaney.
At one point, I was told independently by several folks that former NFL player Leo Wisniewski was close to accepting the job, though talks broke down at the last minute. I was also told recently that Canon-Mac had someone in place ... until the deal fell through again over the weekend.
One of the biggest roadblocks? No teaching job associated with the position.
Again, much of this is speculation. If there's one thing we know, it's that nobody is in a hurry to talk about this, at least not from the Canon-Mac side of things -- which, I can understand.
We'll see if today is the day we finally hear something.
